Why ClickToDoc
Built for people who write instructions, not data.
Every feature is shaped by one rule: turn a click-by-click task into a document you'd be happy to send your boss, in less time than the screenshots alone used to take.
One-click capture
Hit record, click through your task, hit stop. Every step gets a numbered screenshot, the element you clicked, and the page title automatically.
Polished exports
HTML, DOCX, and Markdown out of the box. The DOCX format has a clickable table of contents, palette themes, and a cover page ready for institutional handovers.
Local-first by design
Nothing leaves your browser. No accounts, no servers, no telemetry. Workflows live in local extension storage until you export them.
Editor with redaction
Crop, annotate with arrows / highlights / numbers, blur sensitive regions, and reorder steps. Smart redact finds emails, card numbers, and phone numbers automatically.
Auto-backup
Optional scheduled backups drop a JSON of every workflow into your Downloads folder. Restore on any machine: survives uninstall, browser reset, even moving OS.
Palette themes
Built-in palettes including a Dublin City University KA171 theme calibrated against a real institutional document. Add your own logo, header banner, and colours.
How it works
Three steps from task to handover doc.
-
Record
Pin ClickToDoc to your toolbar or dock the side panel. Click the record button and walk through your task. Each click, keystroke, and page transition becomes a numbered step.
-
Edit
Stop recording to open the editor. Crop screenshots, add arrows or highlights, blur sensitive fields, rename steps, add headings, write an intro.
-
Export
Save as HTML (self-contained, share by file), DOCX (institutional-grade Word with a TOC), or Markdown (drop into any wiki). Or export all workflows as a portable backup.
